“When bricks fly” – 2019
Installation contribution to the group show “the call is coming from inside the house,” the Whitney ISP Studio Program Exhibition at EFA Project Space.
“Quality Bonding Time” – 2018
A provisional elucidation of the relationship between the physically enunciated brick sculptures and their online presence, this installation magnified aspects of Instagram’s conjunction with the body in order to emphasize the mixture of pleasure and peril, muscular and mental effort central to our unfolding relationship with the platform. The space was populated with a number of menacing (though potentially entertaining or attractive) items associated with construction and/or spectatorship. These items both directed the body in space and served as display mechanisms for the bricks – functions that the design elements of the social media application perform in miniature, to butterfly effect. The room thereby became a site of presentation but also a maze to navigate at one’s own risk.
